Working History
* August 2010 – October 2010. P/T English Language teacher at Cavendish School.
: I have recently completed a short-term contract with Cavendish school in Dorset. It was my responsibility to teach young students (14-18) and adults (18 +) of a variety of levels.
June 2009 – April 2010. Manager, Yesan Waegukin Football Club.
During my time in Korea, I established and developed a football team, for the English language teachers and the children of the local area. I established this team both as a method of encouraging language acquisition through sport, as well as an opportunity for English teachers to integrate into the local society.
My responsibilities ranged from designing and ordering the kit, establishing a website to increase our online presence, training and encouraging new players, organising a schedule, reserving venues and teaching English.
* April 2009 – April 2010. Teacher, Deoksan High School, South Korea.
: I completed a year-long contract as a Teacher of English as a Foreign Language in South Korea in April 2010. It was my responsibility to prepare materials for, and teach students aged 15-18, which consisted of various levels and speaking ability. My remit was to raise the level of the students in the school, but also to make English more appealing to those students who do not see the value of learning English. I was also responsible for instructing other teachers in their speaking and reading ability.
During my time in Korea I was twice invited to speak to other groups of ‘Native English Teachers,’ working in Korea and share my teaching strategies and tips on motivating students. I believe that this invitation indicated the esteem in which I am held by my peers and superiors.
