- I have completed two 1-year contracts in Korea at KC, a school dedicated to producing fluent English speakers through its full-time kindergarten and elementary programs. Upon graduation, students could read and write on par with native speakers their own age, and speak with a slightly lower degree of fluency. School programs focused on Language Arts, Conversation, Hands-on Activities, Science, and Character Education.

- I was fortunate enough to be called in to substitute at one of the province’s top-rated school. Most days consisted of a schedule dominated by Grade 9 and 10 English classes, but sometimes included various other subjects, including Social Studies, Creative Writing, and a Yearbook period.

I taught the advanced and intermediate level ESL classes with a curriculum that focused on improving students’ general knowledge of English. I also taught electives which dealt with either spoken or written fluency. Correct grammar was pivotal, and a lot of time was spent building vocabulary and using correct verb tenses. Fluid and effortless speech with appropriate pronunciation and intonation were also central to the curriculum.

- I was employed on a contract basis as a tour guide and bus driver for a company that specializes in student tours in British Columbia, Alberta, and Washington State. Each weekend I lead tours of between 15 and 52 students from various lower mainland language schools on 1-day and overnight educational tours to Whistler, Victoria, the Rocky Mountains, Tofino and Seattle.

- With a group of talented young adults, I traveled to schools across the province to perform interactive skits and role-plays about the dangers of street life. We also facilitated classroom workshops and discussions about youth and gang violence, in addition to Representing the Attorney General’s Ministry at conferences and community action meetings around the province. I also worked closely with police liaison officers in BC high schools to organize BC Youth Police Network camps (at Camp Elphinstone, Sunshine Coast) for youth action team members from around British Columbia.
