Education History * B.A. Honours in English Literature (Carleton University)
I have spent a total of 4 years studying English Literature in Ottawa, Ontario. In my final two semesters at school I achieved an “A” average and was nominated for the Wilgar Memorial Undergraduate prize for excellence in essay writing. I was also short-listed for the undergraduate essay conference where students were invited to read their papers to other faculty professors. I was on good terms with all of my teachers and was known for my hard work, my commitment, my tactful and articulate writing style and my thoughtful contributions to class discussion. I was one of the top five students in the English program.
Working History * Miltan English Academy (March 2007-2008)
- At this private school I worked mainly as a speaking/writing teacher although reading was still a primary focus. I taught 5-7 classes per day to middle school students for 50 minutes each session. Duties included two hours of lesson planning before classes, weekly staff meetings, quarterly test preparation/marking, progress reports and daily homework checks. I was also selected among the staff to work as a private tutor for the manager's sixteen year old son. He was preparing to enter private school in the United States. We read and discussed classic literature and poetry, worked on essay writing skills and practised for SAT and SSAT examinations.

* ESL Business Manager/Teacher (April 2008-2009)
- In Brisbane Australia I set up my own small business teaching ESL to students from all over the world. I was in charge of my own advertising, recruiting, lesson plans and scheduling. Students liked me because I catered to their specific needs and would not only teach general classes in speaking/reading/writing but also helped with University assignments, TOEIC, TESOL and IELTS preparation. For my regular students, I would prepare my own tests and periodically give them progress reports. I had over 50 adult students during the 12 month period and never took a holiday. It was a very unique and valuable experience.
