Working History
* July 2010 - July 2011
: After-school English Teacher, Susaek Elementary School, Seoul, South Korea
- Working at this after school program was a rewarding experience. I saw the same students every other day so I was able to see them progress and grow more confident with
English. There was only one other teacher so we were able to discuss books, lesson plans and our students needs regularly. We were constantly working on ways to tailor our classes to the students in our classes so they would be the most beneficial to them.
* February 2010 - May 2010
: English Teacher, Wise Bee English Academy, Bucheon, South Korea
- I was lucky enough to teach some great students at this school, unfortunately for only a short time as the school closed down due to financial problems. The company kindly helped
me to transfer to the above school.
* May 2009 – December 2009
: Business English Tutor, Speakeasy, Santiago, Chile
- I worked for a company that provided English tutoring to an international company with offices in Santiago. I taught a range of classes from beginners through to advanced business
English, also some maintenance classes for management level.
* March 2009 – September 2009
: English Tutor, The Homework Club, Santiago, Chile
- The Homework club provides after-school English tutoring classes at bilingual schools and private classes to individual students. I helped out with kindergarten classes and an intensive holiday course. The main part of my job was tutoring three students between the ages of nine and eleven. I tutored them according to the syllabus of their bilingual schools, helping with history, math, and geography, also improving reading and critical thinking skills.
* August 2008 – January 2009
: English Teacher, ARA English Institute, Tanhyeon, South Korea.
- At ARA I taught kindergarten and elementary students. I worked independently or with an assistant depending on the age and level of the students. I was responsible for one
class of six year olds during lunchtimes and on the frequent school trips. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the school and learned a lot about the skills needed to teach young children.
* March 2007 – April 2008
: English Teacher, Master Language Institute, Ilsan, South Korea.
- At this institute I taught elementary and middle school students. Most classes concentrated on writing and speaking skills in preparation for high school entry exams. The created lesson plans using text books but the use of extra materials to help students and make classes enjoyable was encouraged. We also designed and implemented monthly tests, progress
reports were wrote according to these results and overall performance during the month.
