Personal Introduction
Dear Sir/Madam,
I would like to apply for a position as a native English teacher at your school. I am a 25-year-old Irish national with a 4 year Bachelor’s degree from Trinity College Dublin and two years teaching experience in Korea. I also have additional experience teaching English language summer camps in Europe.
Having lived and worked in Korea for two years, I have gained a lot of valuable teaching experience. From March 2010 to March 2011, I was an English teacher at Avalon middle school academy in Ilsan. At Avalon, I taught speaking and writing classes. These ranged from low and intermediate level up to TOEFL level for the advanced students. I also created lessons and materials for special programs such as book club, creative writing and debate as well as creating materials for summer and winter intensive programs. At Avalon, I built strong relationships with my students and with my coworkers making it a very rewarding and enjoyable experience.
Since October 2011, I have been working as an English teacher at Suwon Global Village. This school is a new initiative jointly run by Suwon City Hall and EJ Top Eduvisor. I have been a part of this school since it opened its doors last October and have been involved in developing the entire elementary and kindergarten curriculum. This includes a variety of classes and activities with a focus on practical learning, such as cooking class, science experiments, arts and crafts, sports and a weekly musical performance. This school is made up of a team of eight native teachers and four Korean teachers. We work together planning and creating lessons and co-teaching when we need to conduct activities with large groups of children. Therefore, team-work, initiative and a lot of energy are essential to this position.
Given my past experience, positive attitude and friendly personality, I believe I would be ideally suited to a position teaching English at your school. I can provide excellent references from all my previous employers. As I am currently living in Korea, I am also available for a face-to-face interview. It is also worth noting that my current E2 visa is transferable. I have attached my resume with more information about my previous experience and a recent photo. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
