Personal Introduction
Dear Sir/Madam,
It is with great enthusiasm that I submit my resume in consideration for a position as an ESL Teacher with your organisation. I am a native English speaker with a fluent and sophisticated grasp of English, and have completed my Postgraduate Diploma in TESOL from The University of Technology in Sydney, Australia. I also received First Class Honours in Semiotics (English and Linguistics) from The University of Sydney, Australia. As a highly motivated and compassionate individual, with over fourteen years of tutoring experience and one year’s experience as a student teacher, I am confident that although I am only beginning my teaching career I would become a valuable member of your teaching staff.
The attached resume will highlight my career achievements and showcase my commitment to education. I am a versatile educator and have experience working with heterogeneous groups of multi-age students from a wide variety of ethnic and educational backgrounds. As a result I am a culturally sensitive and imaginative teacher who is adept at harnessing a variety of different teaching methodologies and techniques in order to encourage student engagement and enthusiasm. I enjoy working with many different audiovisual aids, and employing role-play, games, physical activities, crafts, excursions and other teaching strategies to keep my lesson plans fresh and stimulating.
One of the most effective ways that I assist ESL students is by developing and delivering stimulating and effective lesson plans that focus on student-centred learning and engage with all learning styles. I employ a variety of visual, audio, tactile and kinaesthetic methods in order to accommodate different student needs, and I also integrate role-play, games, phonics activities and technology to ensure that each student is able to comprehend and retain the concepts and language. My goal is to foster and maintain an open, communicative and supportive classroom, where students achieve high performance standards whilst feeling safe, valued and appropriately challenged.
I am very keen to experience life in Korea and develop my professional and personal horizons in this amazing country. I am well travelled and independent, and I feel confident that I will adapt to life in Korea and be able to bring my skills and enthusiasm to a new group of students.
I would appreciate the opportunity to Skype with you in order to discuss how I can make a valuable contribution to your organisation. I am available to start work anytime after the 26th of February, and would ideally like to work full-time for a minimum of one year, with a view to extending my stay. However I am interested in work of any kind so please consider me for all suitable positions.
Thank you for your time and consideration,
Sincerely,
Anni Hellwig
