We are looking for a teacher to start December 1st at our lovely academy in Ilsan, Gyeonggi-do. The location is a 15-20 minute walk from Juyeop Station (line 3), and an 8-10 minute walk from Ilsan Station on the new Kyungui line. I'll mention that the trains on the Kyungui line are less frequent than the ones on line 3. There are also many buses that can get you to various points in Seoul faster than the subway (in most cases).
Ilsan itself is a clean residential city that has more foreign restaurants and amenities than other medium-sized Korean cities tend to have.
At Premier Academy you would only teach elementary students. All students know phonics already. You would teach up to six 50-minute classes a day, with 10-minute breaks between each class. The hours would be between 3PM and 10PM (usually 9PM). You should come an hour before your first class, and you can go home after your last class.
There is very little homework grading. However, we do want a teacher who will prepare well for class, adapt activities to our books, and prepare other activities that can get students engaged in using English. The books you would use would be reading books that the students should read at home before class. Your task would be to make sure the students understand the articles, and to get the students speaking as much as possible.
The pay would be 2.2-2.3 million won per month. You would get your own room and the usual benefits (airfare, pension, health insurance, severance). You could also opt for a housing allowance if you give a couple months notice. At our academy you will have no problems with creative accounting or late pay.
Of course we prefer someone who is already in Korea and who can do a visa transfer. Also, the more experience you have, the better.
